Farmer's Market Day

Days 8 and 9:)

Day 8 was fine--i got alot of sleep;)
really enjoying the juices !!

I will start taking spirilina this weekend--I tend to try 'new' things on the weekends because I work during the week.. if anything 'unusual' is going to happen as a result of a new supplement I want to know in advance (at home-if you know what I mean).

Day 9: I am excited about Day 9 just because tomorrow is Day 10! It's an even number --10 just sounds impressive!! Anyway we should live in the moment but i'm still excited to have made it this far:)

How I feel: Full of energy

Juices/regimen:
am: water with lemon (MSM) this is actually starting to taste good to me-my taste buds are changing..
Juice #1--celery, cucumber, kale, tomato and i added jalapeno (just a bit) very good !!

Juice #2--cantoulope, spinach--I saw this posted somewhere and gave it a try--very yummy (this one separated though-so I had it give it a stir) but worth it!

Juice #3--watermelon (this made 2 quarts!

juice #4--watermelon

pm: water with lemon

peace and Amen:)

Juice Feast Day 7

Got up later than usual--so I was short on time with prepping my juices (aaugh)
am: lemon water with MSM capsules--i added a touch of honey to it for sweetness
juice #1 kale, celery, cucmber and tomatos (this was really good) i wanted to have a juice with no fruit and I really liked this one--I added a pinch of sea salt--I'm making this one again tomorrow:)
juice#2 - same as above
juice #3 watermelon juice ( 1 mini sized watermelon makes just under 2 quarts:))
juice #4 same as juices 1 and 2
How I feel:
so far so good--i don't have cravings-- i am really happy about this because even when I was 80% raw i sometimes craved french fries--but i know that after experiencing just having juice--i am going to savor every single raw meal i will have in the future:) (at least that's what i am hoping for)
I need quiet time--my house can be loud sometimes which can be bothersome--i am really cutting down on the TV time--like MAYBE 1 show--of course i will be watching American Idol 2night! But i am watching less news (depressing) and no crime shows..
Energy is really good--i teach little kids so I have to be energetic and alert all day--so far I have a little more energy than when I started this JF.. :)
Exercise: YES:) 20 mins on the elliptical every night--and sit ups
I am trying to add in more water though--i don't want to get dehydrated
TMI coming-- i am seeing that enemas are important --so i will add those in more--i don't want a sluggish colon!!
Thanks to those that have positive comments:)
Peace!!

Juice Feast Day 6

All is well with my juicefeast:)
AM: lemon- water with MSM did i mention that i don't like the lemon water--it need to be sweet!! but it's getting easier to endure.
juice # 1 spinach, kale (just a little), tomato, celery, cucumber, cilantro, carrot--the predominate item is the spinach
juice #2 same as above
juice#3 pinapple -orange HEAVEN:)
chamomile tea with honey in the eve and the afternoon--I'm cold I live nearby some snowy mountains and I guess we are getting the cold breeze---burrrr!!
juice #4 from same batch as above--didn't really want it- just had about 8 oz..though.
About yesterday--I did 20mins on the elliptical (YAY)
TMI coming--stop reading if you don't want to know....................................
ok still reading--i did the enema thingie--first time for everything I guess--it wasn't that bad......
And i did feel really clean afterwards:) I'm not sure if i'm sold on doing that everday though--i'll think about it...
anyway--i'm full of energy--no big emotional outbursts and feel pretty good--i am looking forward to being all raw again--the food picts posted on this site didn't help--i just closed that windo quick-like:)
Peace
oh yeah--one important note--i did the enema thingie and the next morning--my mouth was not as fuzzy!!mmmm..that's interesting!

Juice Feast Day 5

Still juicing and feeling good:)
I went to the health food store (the only place I can get organic veggies and fruits) Our Farmers market is only one day per week:( I bought some kale and tomato for this week
Todays Juices
Juice #1 leftover from last night ( i know they should be made fresh daily BUT i am not going to waste it!!
Juice# 2 roma tomatos, cilantro, carrot, mixed greens, celery, cucmber (VERY TASTY)
Juice#3 watermelon--WOW this one was amazing!!
Juice #4 same as juice #2
I am still feeling cold--today the weather was grey and cloudy and cold--so that didn't help!
It was fun to go to the health food store though--I love going there:)
My feelings are good--I was quiet today and just observing--I actually made a nice dinner for my family and requested that we sit at the table together--I have 2 teens and we haven't done this in a long time because of everyone's crazy schedule!! My family is supportive and didn't mind that i just had juice--my hubby really liked the watermelon juice too!
detox symptons: fuzzy mouth (yuck)!!, one bump on my face (i usually have clear skin so that's new)

Juice Feast Days 3 and 4

Still juicing:) Friday was great except I was a bit off schedule with drinking the juice--i ended up sipping on juice #1 which isn't really the directions but i ended up ok--i probably drank a little less because of sipping on juice #1. I had to teach 120-- 7 year olds how to use chopsticks--that was FUN:)
Today (Day4)
I was thinking I would juice each quart as the day went but I juiced all the quarts in the morning which is great because it keeps me on schedule for mon thru fri..
I did a SWF this am instead of the enema ( i'll probably try that later)
I became really tired after the flush so i had to take a nap.. plus it was cold and windy so snuggling on the couch was fine with me..
My fav juice of the day was the pineapple orange (lovin that one)
This feast is going really well---this is much easier than the lemonade cleanse because there are many flavors to choose from.
I am really taking this day by day and am enjoying sll the info I am getting on juicefeasting.com --
The only thing I am experiencing is coldness!! Before giving up meat years ago and being vegan/raw I was always cold anyway...but now it's worse.. I have been drinking herbal teas and enjoying that :)

Juice Feast Day 2

today went ok
it took 1 1/2 hours to prep the juice for today: 4 quarts green (spinach, carrot, celery, pear) 1 quart fruit (YUMMMY) pineapple+ orange --that was the highlight of today. I found that it is important to drink the juice every 2-3 hours as directed cause i did start to get hungry.. and the juice took away the hunger right away:) I actually had 1 extra quart left over because its 3 quarts green to 1 quart fruit juice--i didn't really want it later so i'll give to the hubby:)
I went and got some green apples today--and cucumbers so that will be in tomorrows recipe for the green stuff--I work so I took a cooler with ice and my quarts--it worked out well--i became cold so I did have some organic tea in the evening--that was perfect--I did start the day with water, lemon, and msm
no enema today--i'm waiting for the weekend for that. I wonder if it's ok to do the SWF instead--i'm trying to find out--if anyone knows please let me know--thanks:)
Did i want to eat today--uh yeah--today was rough at work because alot of people are getting laid off work for the next year--that really sucks--these are hard working people dedicated to what they do--it's just not fair--dang California politicians:(
anyway i had the warm tea and that was comforting enough:)

Juice Feast 2010 Day 1

I'm back-ready for a reset:) Today was Day 1 of my JF--It's also the first day of Lent--I became a member of juicefeasting.com and plan on going as far as I can--my small goal is 40 days--after that we'll see! The long
term goal is the full time-i know I can go for a while because I did the MC for 13 days before..so i'm thinking that this will be better because of the different flavors I get to have. This is definitely a personal journal for me--no one I personally know is in to this raw thing-- so I plan on keeping what I'm doing under wraps-except for my immediate household of course-!
Day one was great--I actually fasted most of the day--and ended up having 1 quart of juice--I had to give my system a rest--i never felt hungry or anything..I read all the info on day one-printed out the excerpts and am focusing on this physical spiritual cleansing:)
green recipe: spinach, celery, pear (I am using a nut milk bag to strain.)
Peace:)

Raw in 2010!! - JuiceFeast

Well it's been awhile since I've been here!! Many things going on in life that has side tracked me away from my ultimate vision of great health.

Last year I had decided that I would participate in a 40 day juice feast during Lent!!

Well it's on!!

I had been posting in give it to me raw-but I may as well post here to update my neglected blog..

I transfered the other days over for continuity:)

I am following the juicefeasting.com program with david and katrina--if you are interested please check out the site--there is a ton of information there!!

I am curently not taking too many of the supplements just MSM..

Basically I am having 4-6 quarts of fresh juice everyday (mostly greens)

Kale Chips

These Kale chips are sooo good! The recipe comes from Sunny's Raw Kitchen. My nonraw hubby loves them-they have a cheesy flavor and they melt in your mouth-way better than any potato chips.

March 7, 2009

I'm Baaack!

Whoa it's been awhile-Am I still a raw fooder-well yeah!

I just came off a 10 day Master Cleanse-what a great experience-I highly recommend it to those who want to cleanse-physically and spiritually.

This was my third cleanse and most successful: It was easier and I lost 10lbs! It's not really meant as a method of weight loss but I didn't mind that bonus!

Today was the fast break day-I started the day with fresh O.J.
Then had organic veggie gazpacho for lunch and dinner-YUM!

DAY 100!

Hey all-
I have reached the 100th day of the RAWFU challenge. I celebrated yesterday by having some raw food cuisine at Leaf Cuisine in Sherman Oaks.

Some thoughts: I stayed 100% raw for MOST of the 100 days. Some days I ate cooked, especially towards the end of the challenge. Still reflecting on why. Right now I'm thinking that the change in weather (it's getting cold at night here folks) is part of the reason. The main food that I was drawn to was FRENCH FRIES. warm and salty-YUMMY!

What changed from Day 1 to Day 100:
  • My desire to live a raw lifestyle is solidified
  • Went from size 12/14 to 10 (not squeezin' into them either)
  • I have learned much more information about the raw community
  • I am not hesitant to attend more raw meet-ups
  • I am in contact with more raw foodies-that keeps me going!
  • It is EASIER to be raw now than before.
  • I won't beat myself up about having a raw vegan meal every once in a while
  • I acutally want to exercise now!
  • A deeper understanding that this is a learning process-enjoy the ride!

The journey continues-I am about 9 months raw now and lovin' it!!

Peace-enjoy your journey!!

I will remember this day for the rest of my life!
No more to say!!

Day 76-Raw Food 100 Day Challenge

California weather- Just 3 days ago I'm complaining about the cold weather-then today was like 80-85 degrees. No wonder I am getting sick:/ Raw or not-drastic changes in temperature can't be good on the body.
Breakfast: tea (not really hungry)
Lunch: VERY simple salad (lettuce, tomatos, guacamole) Oh and some--er-uh-well FRENCH FRIES! there, I said it!!my daughter had some and there you go-enough said!
Dinner: Huge yummy salad with apple cider vinegar w/ olive oil for dressing.dessert : apple

GOOD Stuff!!We had a new SuperTarget open up very close by-they have an entire organic fruits /veggie section AND raw nuts too! I am very happy about that. I still prefer the Farmer's Market but at least I know that I have a choice to get organic when I can't make it to the Farmer's Market. How I am feeling- other than congested I'm feeling pretty good.

I really like what Bunny said today about the food industry-it is so true. We have to change our way of thinking about food. It's fuel for the body-not entertainment!

October 12, 2008

Well today was COLD! I started having some thoughts about warm soups and hot bread-that was happening while I was sitting at a cold soccer game. Then I came home and threw together a slammin' 'taco' salad which squashed those ugly cooked food thoughts!!

Breakfast: banana smoothie (sweetened with dates) spiced up with cinnamon/nutmeg YUMM!Lunch: big salad
Dinner: 'taco' salad-Usually I make the walnut 'meat' with cumin and spices. Well I did not have walnuts today, I have almonds! So I used those instead AND I added some green chiles -I have to say that it was really good. I added a scoop on top of a bed of lettuce and added some spicy salsa and MM MM good!

Recipe:
1 cup of almonds
1 cup of pecans
1 1/2 tsp cumin
cayenne to taste
3/4tsp to /1 tsp sea salt
green chile chopped (Add these after you mix the other ingredients in the processor)
garlic minced (I used 3 cloves)
olive oil (as needed to make it combine)
Green onions (about 4)-add these after you mix the other ingredients in the processor
Liquid smoke (just a drop)
**As aways, add spices to your taste-you can usually use smell to tell if it is spiced up enough.
Process all ingredients in your food processor (I used my vita mix as a chopper)

NOTE-to me this really looks like ground beef--Freaky!!!

This is a large batch that will last me for 3-4 or maybe even 5 days.

I still don't have an Excalibur but a friend of mine gave me her ronco dehydrator-unfortunately I read online that these can get up to about 130 degrees which makes it too hot for RAW uncooking (bummer). However I am still going to use it to see if I can make 'burgers' using the above 'meat' recipe. I am still planning in getting the biggie dehydrator later.

WELLNESS-my throat is feeling like crap-It's like I'm getting sick-It's probably due to the weather change. I'll be having some organic tea with lemon for that..

Peace:)

RawFu Challenge Day 70!!

I can't believe that Day 70 is here!! Time is zooming by!!As each day goes by I am more convinced that Raw is the best way to eat (for me)! I feel so 'clean' inside. I am to the point where I don't obsess too much about what I eat. On the weekends I make big batches of seed cheese and/or main entrees-this usually lasts until Wed or Thurs. Actually I make extra because my co-workers are wanting to try Raw foods. This week I had the mess o greens (see recipe below) and sweet potato 'stuff' (I tweaked it to my taste). It's a keeper. For breakfast I have been having 2 pieces of fruit, nothin fancy. Dinner has been huge salads with avocado.

All Week:
Breakfast: banana/apples
Lunch: greens/ sweet potato 'stuff'
Dinner: salad with variety of veggies

I want to preface this by saying that eating greens is kind of a family tradition for me-I was really feeling weird about not being able to eat them like I used to, then I found this recipe and WOW-Let's just say that I am one happy camper!!

Mess o greens Recipe:This recipe came from a site call The Daily Raw Cafe (I would link it but it is no longer at the same address for some reason, luckily I wrote the recipe down just the other day).

1 bunch of collard greens (cut into thin strips) You can roll the leaves up like a cigar and slice away.Olive oil-you are going to 'massage' the oil into the greens. (this is really YOU becoming one with your food).

Marinade:
1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar (Braggs)
1/4 cup of sun dried tomatos (soaked) I used julienne sliced ones
1/4 cup of scallions (the white part)
1 garlic clove minced
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (I did not have the flakes so I used cayenne powder)
I put a little olive oil in the marinade too.
salt and pepper to taste.(mix all this together and have it ready before you slice the greens)

After you 'massage' your greens, add them to the marinade and let it marinade for 4 or more hours in the fridge. Really the longer it's in the marinade the better they get. (they do get softer)These are soooo good that I have to make double (to share)!

The sweet potatoes 'stuff'"-
3 sweet potatoes cut into cubes
1/2 cup of pecans (soaked)
juice of 1 small lemon
about 6-8 dates (soaked in just enough water to cover them-keep the water)
cinnamon 1/4 tsp
nutmeg 1/4 tsp
Put all ingredients in the VitaMix (included the date soak water) and GO! Mix until smooth-the Vita Mix will actually warm the mixture.
I used sweet potatoes, not yams-the lemon helps maintain the color and adds a nice flavor. This could easily be used as a filling for a date/nut crust. Mine never makes it that far.
All of my non-raw friends love this recipe.

About the exercise-I have been procrastinating on that big time! Alexis inspired me with her video-I am ready for the next thirty days!!

RawFu Challenge Day 66

Soccer Game today- Both of my girls won their games YEAH!!

I finished reading The Square Foot Garden and checked out some websites of gardens using that method. I have always wanted to grow stuff. Now being a Raw Foodist I definately want to grow my own food. I have plenty of space in my backyard-it's just a matter of getting starting. I know a friend who works in construction so I'm going to have him get me some 'free' wood for my boxes. I'll be bloggin' about that as if unfolds.

I mentioned about a co-op that I found in my area-I have not yet contacted them. I'm working on it.

Breakfast-(rushed morning): Sunflower seeds/water-Lara Bar (pecan bar)

Lunch: corn on the cob w/ olive oil, sea salt, cracked black pepper, avocado (mashed on top) YUM!! That's all I have to say about that!!Huge smoothie (bananas, oranges, touch of honey)

Dinner: Salad w/ cucumber dressingFood Prep for the week: I'll be making the Mess O greens, and sweet potato 'stuff'.

That will be my lunch M-W.

Mood- I was really tired today!

October 4, 2008

RawFu Challenge Day 65

It's finally starting to feel like Fall here in the Desert. Today is windy and cold-but I heard that it's only temporary. Hot weather is in the forecast.

Breakfast: Lara Bar (Pecan, dates) chopped, Bananas, touch of cinnamon, and honey drizzled on top VERY YUMMY!!

Lunch: Mess O Greens-the more they marinate, the better they taste and the softer they get. MMM MMM Goodness

Huge Banana Strawberry Smoothie

Dinner: Chai Tea-not hungry
